Usually it would be considered unsociable to pull out an iPad at a networking function. But, at this party, it would have been rude not to!
We were approached by a company that manufactures tableware for the hospitality market about serving up something special at an event for their representatives. Something that would get their guests to interact with the place settings spread throughout the rooms of a mansion where their event took place.
We didn’t have to dish too long before forking over the following idea – creating a series of challenges that would require guests to interact with their product displays through a custom app on an iPad. For instance, at the flatware display, guests had to touch the fork, spoon or knife on the iPad that corresponded to the one set incorrectly (according to Miss Manners) on view. And, at the glassware display, guests had to drag and drop the correct beverage name listed on the iPad screen onto the letter that corresponded with the glassware on view. The guests earning the most points for accuracy and speed placed first and won a prize.
The event was a huge success and everyone was bowled over by the unique way the company was able to introduce their top products in a non-intrusive way.
