How To Plan The Perfect Halloween Teambuilding Event
Does the thought of coming up with a fun Halloween team building event fill you with horror? Don’t have a ghost of an idea of what to do? Then read on for these fun Halloween-themed team building activities!
Book an Organized Halloween Team Building Event
If the thought of finding the time and energy to organize a Halloween activity for your group sends you into a zombie-like trance, you can always hire a team building company like Wildly Different team building experiences! Consider booking one of our fun Halloween team building events and let our team of experienced professionals handle your corporate group’s Halloween activity from start to finish! Events to consider include:
- Halloween High-Tech – Choose from a Halloween-themed game where teams set out around an event area, not to trick-or-treat, but to open icons that are GPS activated to release challenges such as Halloween trivia, clues, photo and video challenges. Or, one of our newest games, Escape The Dark Curse where teams must complete challenges throughout an area of interest to lift a spell that has taken over their town.
- Virtual Halloween Games – If your group is remote, there are several virtual Halloween games that can be done in just an hour’s time. “Witch” will you choose? These include Haunted Trail, Escape The Castle, or Manor House Murder, which can also be hosted as a hybrid game with some players participating remotely and others playing in person around a team table.
- Charitable Activity – Your group can decorate and fill trick-or-treat bags for kids in need. Once decorated, they can be filled with fun items such as candy, Halloween stickers, Halloween decorations, etc.
Feature Fun Halloween-Themed Games
If you don’t have the time or the budget for a full-blown Halloween team-building event, you can still raise your team’s spirits by hosting a quick Halloween-themed challenge! One of our favorites is Candy Conundrum, where team members must guess the name of the candy being alluded to. I.e., “Happy Cowboys” are Jolly Ranchers, and “Exploding Suns” are Starbursts. You can either print out a list of these and award a prize to the person who guesses the most correctly. Alternatively, gather everyone and call out the fake candy name. The first person who raises their hand and identifies it right wins that candy!
Halloween Decorating
These decorating activities not only make wicked Halloween team builders, they will also make your office feel festive! Consider hosting a pumpkin decorating contest, providing a mini-pumpkin for everyone and setting out a supply table with markers, glue, googly-eyes, feathers, construction paper, scissors, etc. for them to use to decorate it. Each person could decorate their own, or challenge departments to get creative by using a theme. Host this with everyone decorating together in one room, or challenge team members to complete their submissions by a certain day for VIPs or all employees to vote on their favorite (no voting for their own).
Alternatively, challenge team members to decorate their office or cubicle for Halloween. Award one, or a variety of prizes in categories such as scariest, funniest, over-the-top, etc.
Halloween Treats
Surprise your team members by serving popcorn for them to enjoy as they watch a short Halloween-themed movie or cartoon. To turn this into a scream, you could ask trivia questions about what they watched afterwards to award prizes.
Another idea that’s a howling good time is to go door-to-door reverse trick-or-treating. Instead of collecting candy from them, have employees blindly choose a treat from your bag. Include adult goodies such as gift cards for coffee, gas, or lunch spots; money; nice chocolates, etc.
